Circumcision Details: Circumcision is a same-day surgery, usually taking about 20-30 minutes. Most urologists prefer to perform it with the patient asleep. Afterwards there will be stitches going all the way around just behind the head of the penis. These are usually absorbable and come out on their own in 10-14 days. Usually people take a week off. The pain is moderate and pain meds and antibiotics are prescribed.
