A painless genital ulcer (open sore) is a very typical description of primary syphilis, but absence of sexual contact in the preceding 2-3 weeks rules out syphilis. It could be herpes, i.e. a recurrent outbreak of a previously asymptomatic infection. (Not all herpes has blisters or multiple lesions.) You're the best judge whether your new bathing suit is the cause. Get checked if still in doubt.

If your partner does not have syphilis or herpes then it is not that. Herpes ulcers are small and slightly painful and heal in a few days. Keep area clean and apply otc antibiotic ointment. If does not heal pl see your doc/ urologist
