There is no definitive answer to the question of whether women who have received the HPV vaccine still get genital warts, as the effectiveness of the vaccine can vary depending on a number of factors. However, studies have shown that the HPV vaccine is highly effective in preventing the types of HPV that are most commonly associated with genital warts and cervical cancer.

There are around 40 strains of HPV virus that can cause anogenital disease. The HPV vaccines target a few of the most common and most dangerous strains. Gardasil, the HPV vaccine in the US targets 9 different strains. This vaccine will reduce the risk of genital warts caused by these strains but not all strains of HPV so the risk is much lower.
