Genital to genital HSV1 transmission is rare. Some of the most experienced herpes experts say that all or nearly all cases of genital HSV1 they diagnosed were from a partner's mouth by oral sex. Genital to oral HSV1 transmission probably is just as rare. Avoid exposing your partner if and when you have an outbreak (either oral or genital) and otherwise just forget your positive test result.
