There are few strains of the Human Papilloma Virus that cause genital warts, and these are not uncommon. Their location is site specific to genital skin and they have an appearance as you describe. HPV strains that cause common skin warts differ. These can disappear if the body mounts an immune response (up to two years) or be removed by freezing/laser/chemicals.
