A 58-year-old male asked:
After having unprotected sex with my girlfriend a few months ago, she went to a doctor with some stomach cramps and vaginal bleeding. could there have been something i might have caused her to have? i have no std symptoms?

It depends. If you girlfriend is young enough, you could have impregnated her and caused her to have a miscarriage.

Yes. But, the HIV test will be way too soon to be valid. The Syphilis and Herpes and Hepatitis Tests also will not be fully valid this early after an exposure. A good STD clinic can teach you about this but there are STD experts in many urban areas that can also provide you with good advice and help you learn about these common problems that cause so much worry.

Thanks, Dr. Killian, for your added comments. You are right, a good clinic will hopefully explain the life cycle of different STDs and when exposures can turn positive.
