STD symptoms: Exposure to infectious agents with sexual activity is usually apparent with most STD's within a week or so. Chlamydia and gonorrhea can be detected sooner by vaginal culture. HIV and syphilis require blood testing, and the immune antibody response may take weeks to be positive. Herpes I and II are usually apparent within a week with symptoms. See your gyn provider for testing.
