I am currently om the nuva ring when i started this birth control i decided to opt out of having a period which has been working great.. this month all of a sudden i started bleeding out dark brown along with mucus and clots. it's been 3 weeks..?

Those symptoms with 3 week duration are quite abnormal. You need to see your GYN or family doctor. I would suggest to pull out the ring in the meantime if it is still in there.
