My baby is now 40 days old. when i went to the doctor, he told me that i still have stitches from my episiotomy. he told me they can come off even after 10 weeks. my question is if i can have sex now, or should i wait after they come off?

The basics: Most recommend around 6 weeks before resuming intercourse. This is to allow good tissue repair if those injured in the delivery process. Since you are at that point I would consider it okay unless s/he cautioned you otherwise. You might ease into the activity for the next few weeks.
