Ask prescribing Dr.: Haven't heard of Pyridium altering the effectiveness of hormonal birth control. The ingredient phenazopyridine is used on a short-term basis to help relieve symptoms caused by UTI's. Pyridium Plus has 2 added ingredients: hyoscyamine and butabarbital (a barbiturate). Barbiturates can affect the levels of other drugs in the body (such as BC pill hormones), so one should ask her prescriber.
