Common: This is often due to a simple insect bite which can even make a color darker & purplish. A simple moisturizing cream or mild hydrocortizone can help with discomfort as would a cool compress if he allows it. If it oozes or blisters he should be seen. Bite reactions seldom last more than a day or 2.
