Years: The pap test has been around for decades before we understood the relationship of strains of HPV with 95%+ of cervical cancer. It serves as an early warning system so pre-cancer changes can be found & removed before it develops. Studies site as many as 70% are HPV positive by the mid 20's, but the cancer is usually found in older women. Pap smears remain a good & necessary health investment.
