Options: There are a variety of treatment protocols for bacterial vaginosis. There is not one answer that is “the best” for everyone. The most common treatment is Metronidazole given orally or vaginally

In a second question you asked about other treatments for BV. Clindamycin sometimes is used, or capsules of boric acid placed in the vagina. But neither works as well as metronidazole. Plan on using metronidazole unless you have a very good reason, such as a past allergic reaction to it.
