The vaccine protects: Because the vaccine called Gardasil is preventive medicine against HPV strains 6 and 11 (those strains cause most of people's genital warts), and because all young people should have already been vaccinated in the last 9 or 10 years, the young adult man in this situation is presumed vaccinated and presumed pretty safe... meaning he is unlikely to get genital warts. This man is vaccinated, right?
