Gastroenterologist: I recommend an evaluation by a gastroenterologist. Your symptoms may be caused by irritable bowel syndrome combined with hemorrhoids or an anal fissure, inflammatory bowel disease, diverticulitis or diverticulosis of the colon, or even a growth in the colon. In the meantime apply warm soaks to the anus, insert rectal glycerin suppositories and apply anusol ointment for the anal discomfort.
