There are 2 reasons: that unlikely that you're pregnant. First is that you're unlikely to get pregnant during your period, especially the first day. Second, you've been on birth control for years. On the other hand, a pregnancy test this soon is likely to be negative even if you did conceive. In your case, swollen breasts and cramping are probably from random hormone fluctuations rather than pregnancy. Dr. Anne.
