UTI or urethritis?: Non-sexually acquired UTIs are rare in men your age. If symptoms were discharge from the penis (+/-uncomfortable urination), it is more likely you have urethritis, i.e. urethral infection due to gonorrhea, chlamydia, or (most likely) nongonococcal urethritis (NGU). If it is any of these, cefdinir is the wrong drug. See an STD specialist or at least get tested for STD. Discuss with your doctor.
