Yes: Blood in the stool is abnormal and must be checked out. Possibilities include hemorrhoids, inflammatory bowel disease, diverticulosis, or a growth. Even if bleeding stops, I feel it's important to get checked by your physician. If profuse bleeding persists, go to the hospital emergency room.
