Unlikely: Clear oil floating on the surface is not part of the description fat malabsorption. It may be mucus which is normal with a bowel movement. With significant fat malabsorption the patient gets steatorrhea: greasy foul smelling voluminous stools pale in color.

After a bowel movement there is clear oil/film at the top of toilet water that is barely visible. No unintended weight loss, BM's are consistent and formed. Could this be fat absorption problem or more likely to be bacteria / mucus?
After a bowel movement I see a slight oil sheen/dots on the surface of the toilet water. I can't see it unless I use phone flashlight and I look at a sharp angle. Stool does not smell unusual/usually medium brown. Is this steatorrhea? Health anxiety?
