VCFs: I am not sure of the meaning of the acronym VCF. Most forms of birth control are effective with varying degrees of effectiveness. It depends upon you following the directions scrupulously. You can check on Google for the published %s of each method.

As secondary method: Spermicide is not a very good primary source of birth control. It decreases the risk of pregnancy but also has a high failure rate. I would use a better source of birth control as your primary method.

Not the best: VCFs, vaginal contraceptive film or foam, while better than nothing are not the most effective birth control and do not protect against STDs. The failure rate is 15% when used *perfectly* and more like 29% in the real world. The effectiveness can be increased by also using a condom. It is important to follow package instructions and use a new VCF for each act of intercourse.
