A 20-year-old female asked:

How effective is birth control plus the pullout method?

Confusing question: Used as directed, ocp's ( if that is what you are using) are cited as 98-99 % effective in avoiding pregnancy. The "pull out" method adds little to the process, as you are exposed to sperm in any fluids from an excited penis.A barrier (condom) plus the ocp would be the more effective combination.

Depends: The answer depends on what birth control method you want. First check a pregnancy test to make sure you are not pregnant. Depoprovera, Mirena (levonorgestrel) iud and Implanon are easier than pills snd can eliminate periods. Some types of birth control periods can cause very light periods. Most pills, the patch and NuvaRing will still give you a period.
