I had a d & c done on friday 6/19 and i got the mirena (levonorgestrel) iud on 6/25. is it safe to have sex after a week?

No: Two things here to consider. First, no sex whatsoever until at least two weeks out from D&C (same with tampons and douche). 2. No unprotected sex until your IUD string check around 6 weeks post placement as some women will expel the IUD and not know it
