In any normal situation, should a prostate exam cause or possibly irritate/infect the prostate? had an exam now butthole/maybe prostate hurts?

No: With adequate lubricant, using KY jelly a prostate examination should not be painful or cause infection. ( Unless the prostate was already inflamed). A anal fissure (small tear) may cause pain on examination. Consider using a stool softener for a few days & see your physician.
