I am on the mirena (levonorgestrel) birth control and i checked my strings and it seemed to be swollen where it took me a second to find them could something be wrong?

No: Most patients will not feel the string. If string was cut very short you won't feel it. Ultrasound would confirm placement if it hasn't already been done.
