I have an appt.to have my mirena (levonorgestrel) birth control removed due to having the worst of the worst of my anxiety.could this be what has been making it worse?

Yes and no : The hormonal effect of the Mirena (levonorgestrel) is mainly local on the uterus while the absorption of the Progesterone into your blood stream is minimal. The possibility that this minimal amount will cause severe anxiety is small. There could be other emotional factors that can intensify anxiety such ad the idea of having hormones in your body or having the iud. You could also be very sensitive to hormones.

Yes: Yes Mirena (levonorgestrel) has shown to have a side effect of anxiety in some women. Mood changes is one of the noted side effects of it as well.
