A member asked:

Are anal fissures common after a c-section? i have bright blood and a lot of pain when trying to pass a stool

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Any surgery-yes: Most anal fissures after hospitalization for whatever reason are a result of altered bowel habits; commonly constipation from bed rest, changed diet, and pain meds. Diarrhea from antibiotics and infections also can cause fissures, but constipation is a far more common cause. Discuss treatment with your doc and you should heal up in no time :).
