A member asked:

I have a uterine polyp that comes and goes for years. my mother just got diagnosed with precancerous cells in her uterus and cervix. does that mean i'm at a high risk of having precancer or cancer and should remove it?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Intrauterine polyps are rarely malignant. "Pre-cancerous cells" may occur after menopause from estrogen stimulation of the lining of the uterus (endometrium), and or cervical dysplasia from HPV for example. See your GYN physician for a thorough discussion of options.
