Not impossible: Somewhat unlikely, but you can take out the ring during intercourse and put it back in afterwards if that continues to be a problem.

??: Never heard of it. The rate of allergic relation to the device, in the vagina, is low. The penis, with non mucosal skin and limited contact may create a problem but it seems low probability. The ring can be removed and replaced but don't leave it out for long; try intercourse without the ring after he heals to see if there is a difference.
