Hello. : Hello. That question doesn't have a definitive answer. One person can have a stronger immune system than another. One thing is for certain, the longer you have untreated chlamydia; the higher the risk of damaging your reproductive system. The infection can spread to the uterus. The lining of the uterus can become damaged making it difficult for a fertilized egg to impant. Because the egg is usually fertilized while it is still inside the fallopian tube, scarring to the tube from chlamydia can prevent the egg from leaving the tube and cause an ectopic pregnancy. Remember chlamydia can be a silent disease. If you or anyone you know might have chlamydia they should be evaluated as soon as possible, so that they can be treated before there is too much damage.
