Hi : Hi kristen, it sounds like you already know enough about birth control pills to know, that if you miss doses and have sex without barrier protection, that you are at risk for becoming pregnant. Symptoms of pregnancy can include: lack of a period, nausea, feeling tired, passing gas more often, urinating more often, insomnia, swollen or tender breasts, food cravings, light cramping, enlargement of abdomen and possible spotting during implantation. You did not state when you missed your period. It is possible to get a negative pregnancy test even if you are pregnant if your HCG hormone level is not high enough to trigger a positive on the test. Recommend you retake the pregnancy test about seven days after your missed period. Another option would be to get a serum (blood) HCG test through your doctor as these are more sensitive. Take care.
