BV/cervicitis: Treating BV is not the cause of cervicitis, cervicitis can be caused by gonorrhea, chlamydia, ureaplasma, mycolplasma genitalium or viral infection, and treatment is needed to get rid of these organisms, reccurent infections can be due to re-exposure or inadequate treatment.

BV and cervicitis: Excellent questions. BV is often associated with cervicitits, and vice versa: the two conditions often go together. The reasons are unknown: either can be associated with gonorrhea or chlamydia, but without those STDs, the causes are unknown. Treatment of either one isn't known to cause the other. Probably most important to treat BV every time; occasional (weekly?) metronidazole maybe helfpul.
