Does bacterial vaginosis cause cervicitis?

Not usually: Bacterial vaginosis usually causes a thin, grey-white discharge and a characteristic bad smell, which could be described as "musty" or "fishy." unlike a cervicitis, where the cervix is the source of discharge due an infection or other irritation, with bacterial vaginosis the discharge comes from the vagina due to a shift away from the good bacteria that usually live there.

Maybe: Cervicitis is very common in women with BV, but whether one causes the other isn't well known. Research is continuing on this.
