A member asked:

If my partner and i already had unprotected and i have abnormal pap w/ low risk hpv does this mean that we were transferring back and forth ?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Permanent resident: Once you have one of the strains of HPV it can stay around indefinitely.Whether or not you pass it to anther depends on whether you are shedding the virus at the time of contact.Shedding can be intermittent. If your partner has acquired it, the same rules apply. You do not pass this back and forth like a strep throat.
