Prevent ovulation: Birth control pills stop the brain's signal (LH) for egg release (ovulation) at the level of the ovary. Some methods are able to prevent the formation of ovarian follicles as well. Although we do not know about the exact details of how the body does it, we also know that the cervical mucous is thickened and prevents sperm entry.
