What protocol????: Chlamydia Pneumonia, caused by Chlamydia Pneumoniae (NOT to be confused with the Sexually transmitted Chlamydia organism is well treated with antibiotics such as Azithromycin and is as serious as any other lung infection. However the prognosis is usually good in otherwise healthy patients BUT....What is the Whelton protocol??

It's a common ..: cause of pneumonia or bronchitis, but also causes pharyngitis and sinusitis. About 50% of adults in the United States show evidence they have been infected by age 20! Testing for reliable diagnosis is needed. It responds to macrolide (erythromycin, azithromycin) antibiotics. So it is serious, but not more so than many causes of pneumonia. I'm sorry, I don't know what the Whelton protocol is:(
