A member asked:

I kissed someone july 11. on july 29 my upper lip felt a little tight. i saw i had a tiny skin color bump. it hasn't grown or burst. is it herpes?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

HSV-1: The incubation period (time between exposure and symptoms) of the HSV virus that causes cold sores is 2-12 days, but most people develop the sore within the first week. If the bump turns into a painful blister or an ulcer, it is most likely a cold sore caused by the herpes virus, but it is unclear if you caught it from the person you kissed.
