Hi docs, do you think it's bad to have sex before you start your period?

No more than any: other time. Just use the normal precautions. Many women experience an increase in desire for sex just before their periods, and then have some relief after sex. Part of that is hormonal, part psychological (anticipating a break from sex for a few days).
