A 20-year-old female asked:

I have spotting either randomly and after intercourse. i'm negative for gonorrhea and chlamydia, what could it be? also negative on pap smear.

Consider gyn doctor: Although pap smear was negative, was the gyn exam otherwise normal? Did you start birth control pills recently? Depending on duration, pattern, and timing of the spotting, this may be normal or abnormal. Would recommend gyn doctor evaluation, as you may need further medical exam. Dr. Dantin is right. Most labs will report them if positive. Being 100% honest, though, it IS a common thing for doctor to miss those other results when looking at report as they often only look for pap results. I would see your family medicine doctor or gynecologist if you are having symptoms. It's a good question.
