Yeast irritation: Your age and symptoms could be a yeast infection aka vaginitis. There are over the counter remedies at your pharmacy. Hairdryer the area after each shower. If not better in a few days, back to your doc and ask for a yeast culture, and prescription for diflucan (fluconazole). Good luck and be well.
