After perianal abcess surgery and seton, i've been using a cream with lanolin. my dr. now sees that i'm probably allergic to lanolin after 4 weeks. what other options do i have? from all the washing, my anus is dry and sore. can i use vaseline?

You could try a small amount of Vaseline to the area to see if this relieves your symptoms. If it doesn’t help, or if it feels worse, then call your doctor to see what else can be offered. I really hope you feel better soon! Best of luck to you!

Agree with Dr. Ferranti: If vaseline does not help or causes allergic reaction, you may try butter or vegetable oil. Wish you good health!

See GI doctor: Why hasn't the "anal" prolapse" been corrected? Is the "anal fissure" still present? Have you seen an anorectal surgeon?

Watch for symptoms: It is unlikely that you infected your eye but if you get any redness, pain and photophobia than get it checked by an ophthalmologist asap.
