do you get your period on the first pack of yaz (drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol) birth control ?

Yes usually: Most people have regular periods during the week of placebo pills when taking birth control pills. But on the first 1-3 packs, breakthrough bleeding btb (irregular bleeding and/or spotting) can occur even if you take perfectly. If you miss pills, btb is more likely.A few people will not have any bleeding during placebo, or just spotting. If you're worried abt preg or have missed pills take a pg test.

How is a barium enema used to treat a child's gastrointestinal tract birth defects?

Dr. Anatoly Belilovsky
Pediatrics 35 years experience
It's not.: It is used to diagnose GI tract birth defects; it is used to treat an acquired condition called intususception, in which small bowel "telescopes" and becomes jammed in large bowel. Barium under pressure pushes it back out while at the same time showing "before" and "after" pictures -- confirming both diagnosis and cure.

Dr. Marcus Degraw

Not likely: Anthrax vaccination is listed as pregnancy category c. Despite a lack of evidence showing harm, pregnant women should be vaccinated only if absolutely necessary. Breast feeding mothers may receive ava without any fear of passing anthrax to their infants. In 30 years, there has been no study or follow up issues to suggest the vaccination may harm a fetus, it just has not been studied in pregnant w.

A 24-year-old member asked:

Is there a connection between hormonal birth control and breast cancer?

2 doctor answers3 doctors weighed in
Dr. Barry Rosen
General Surgery 34 years experience
Yes: Women who use birth control pills (bcps) are at a slightly higher risk of developing breast cancer yet this risk seems to disappear if you stop the medication more than 10 years previously and have not developed cancer during that decade. In contrast, bcps may lower the risk of developing ovarian cancer. Like all medications, there are risks v. Benefits that should be discussed with your doctor.
