Can do other times: Iuds are usually inserted during or at the end of a period because doctors know you aren't pregnant and because the cervix can be a little more open making insertion easier. However it can be done at any time as long as the person was using effective birth control so we are confidant she isn't pregnant.

It is better: Your cervix opens slightly during your period. This makes it easier to insert the iud with less trauma to your uterus.
