Safe to take sertraline and antihistamine?

Most likely OK: Which antihistamine are you taking? The 'older' antihistamines like Benadryl (diphenhydramine), nyquil (doxylamine), chlortrimeton - the ones that make you drowsy - may make you more drowsy than normal if you take them with sertraline. The newer non-drowsy ones, like Claritin (loratadine) (loratidine), zyrtec (cetirizine), ; Allegra (fexofenadine), are totally fine.

Probably: It should be O.K. To take both of them together, but be aware of possible oversedation or drowsiness with them. Also monitor the effects they have on you before you drive or operate other machinery. You may need to have the dose of your antihistamine lowered or take it temporarily if you do experience side effects.
