Very safe: All surgery has some risk, but cataract removal is one of the safest out there. Ophthalmologists trained to do this have a high skill level and much experience even in the training years. Nothing really to fear from this procedure.

Cataract Surg Risks: Depending on other risk factors (length of eye: if very short; history of other eye, h/o trauma, diabetes, on aspirin, flomax, (tamsulosin) general health, etc) cataract surgery is generally very safe and recommended if vision
