Sometimes: When a pulpectomy is done, the dentist is doing the best he or she can do to help relieve your pain. Don't think of the pain as an on our of switch, but rather a sliding scale. The procedure should have started a process of improvement, so look for the trend of continuing improvement. If your pain is nonresponsive or escalating, this is not normal. If concerned call for an evaluation.

Pulpectomy: We need to clarify things a little first. Was the root canal finished or filled completely? Generally you can have some discomfort for a few days following the procedure when it is done completely. If the canals were left open to drain then we are still dealing with active infection.
