I recently got my 3rd lower-left horizontally impacted wisdom tooth removed. Treatment was carried under loc anesthesia but as doc reached closer to root while drilling and breaking the tooth, I felt more and more pain. Is it how it is supposed to be

My 18 year old had pulpectomy on tooth number 19, he had decay in the tooth and was in pain, is a crown always necessary after a root canal.
