Addiction: Obsession or addiction to sleep medications can become just as serious as alcoholism. It surely sounds like you are over doing it. If Ambien (zolpidem) is used too often it becomes less and less effective. Combining sleeping medications is a good sign to a physician that you are most likely addicted and it would be dangerous not to address this with you. Many people in drug treatment get there for ambien (zolpidem).
