Depends upon type: Botulism types include food-borne, wound, and infant. To prevent food-borne, the most common type, avoid home canning of foods and store foods properly in the home. It is a rare disease. Early symptoms of botulism are related to the nervous system and include weakness, drooping eyelids, slurred speech, trouble swallowing, and can worsen. If you experience these symptoms, seek immediate attention.
