Is it normal after root canal to have drainage?

Yes: Drainage is a quick way for your body to get rid of any bacteria (pus) and fluid it doesn't want. It will only last for a few days and should not come back. Call your dentist if there are any swelling, pain or fever associated with these drainage. You may want to be on antibiotics as well.

Infection: There can be some drainage if there is an active infection. You should be taking an antibiotic for the infection. Call the dentist or endodontist who did the root canal to answer this question for your case.

Depends: Drainage is a process by which the body releases the dead cells that were fighting the infection. Root canal is a treatment for an infection. At times after the treatment the body may continue to drain the body's reaction to both the prior infection and the treatment. The root canal treatment usually is not completed until the infection is eliminated. See your dds for a better evaluation.
