You needed root canal therapy since there was an infection in the bone surrounding your tooth. The therapy removed the dead tissue in the tooth which caused the infection, but the residual infection is now being treated with the antibiotics. Since it is draining there is little if any pressure in the bone resulting in no pain or swelling.

It is common to experience some drainage or discharge from the affected area after a root canal, especially if there was an infection present before the procedure.
